Careers at Helm Technology
Build the modelthe whole robot reads from.
We are a small team of simulation, CAD and graphics engineers in San Francisco, and CadSyn launches at Actuate 26. The hard parts are still open — you would own one of them outright.
- Simulation decides
Nothing ships on an opinion about physics. Settle, drop and payload runs answer the question before a human does.
- No silent mutations
Every change, human or agent, lands as a reviewable diff. That rule applies to the people who wrote it too.
- Open where it counts
Loaders, viewer, SDK and the sync CLI are open source. You will argue about where that line sits, in public.
Open roles
-
Simulation Engineer — MuJoCo
MJCF is the core format, so you live in its internals — closed chains as equality constraints, a four-bar knee that has to behave the same way twice. You own the cross-engine truth packs: settle, drop and actuation fixtures on cloud runners in MuJoCo, Isaac and Gazebo. When the three disagree, you are the person who decides which one is lying.
Apply -
CAD Integration Engineer — SolidWorks & Onshape
Two connectors, one hard problem. The SolidWorks add-in is desktop code that reads the assembly tree, mates and mass properties and pushes them to the cloud — read-and-push only, nothing written back into the part. Onshape is the same job against a cloud API. Underneath both: mapping an assembly tree onto a kinematic tree without the old sw2urdf demand that subassemblies exactly mirror links.
Apply -
Agent Runtime Engineer
A frontier-model harness that designs a robot and then has to prove it: sim-in-the-loop tool use, the actuator catalog as a retrieval layer, and every action routed through the same public MCP tool surface third-party agents get — no private back door for our own model. Quality is a versioned eval suite of design tasks, so the number moves or it does not.
Apply -
Graphics Engineer — Viewport
React Three Fiber in front, MuJoCo WASM underneath, holding frame rate while someone drags a joint. You own the 3D visual diff — changed geometry highlighted between two revisions, a rendering problem before it is a UI one — and the Gaussian-splat renderer that has to sit beside the mesh pipeline rather than replace it.
Apply -
Compile Service Engineer
Python workers around onshape-to-robot, CoACD and trimesh, turning a CAD revision into a model that loads untouched. Convex decomposition that does not explode the hull count, inertia read from mass properties instead of guessed, mesh quality scored on every compile. The design target is 80% of compiled models loading in MuJoCo and Isaac with no hand edits — that target is the job.
Apply -
Catalog Lead — Actuator Data
Verified actuator data is the moat, and a moat is built by hand at the start. Torque curves, reflected inertia, gear ratios and thermal limits as structured data an agent can select on — seeded from public datasheets, then claimed and certified by the vendors themselves. Half the role is the data model. The other half is sitting across from actuator makers explaining why being listed is worth the paperwork.
Apply -
Founding Designer
Three surfaces, three audiences. The canvas a mechanical engineer authors in, the diff a reviewer has to approve at speed, and the configurator an OEM’s customer opens in a browser tab with no CAD seat and no idea what MJCF is. You would set the visual language for all three, then defend it for years.

Nothing that fits? Send the model, the repo, or the robot that walks. We hire ahead of the posting when someone is obviously right.
